The Witch Hunters—sure to be a jewel in the family category—comes to FFF with a distinctive pedigree as a Young People’s jury award winner at TIFF and a Sundance 2019 selection. The Witch Hunters is a heartwarming story of two tween-ager classmates whose friendship is born out of a need to face their individual struggles. Jovan, a 10-year-old with partial cerebral palsy, is often marginalized by family and friends, but he dreams of having superhero powers. His self-proclaimed best friend is the precocious Milica, the newest student arrival at his school, who believes her soon-to-be stepmother is a witch. After all, how could her father fall in love twice? Beneath the pleasant surface of The Witch Hunters is a very sincere family portrayal of misconceptions and imposed limitations—a message and story for all ages and audiences.
