Lex Cordova runs a small business with her father (John Ortiz, Silver Linings Playbook), providing a unique service to the terminally ill: she helps them emotionally prepare for the end. Despite Lex’s gift for existential counseling, she is hopeless when it comes to dealing with the living. Lex’s social isolation is shaken by a new client Val (Judith Light, Who’s the Boss?) and her handsome but morally ambiguous psychic, Spencer (producer Zachary Spicer). More interested in cracking Lex’s tough exterior than talking about her impending death, Val’s energetic spirit affects everyone around her. Further complications arise when a young client of Lex’s recovers from her illness, only to pledge her life in service to the Cordova family business. Featuring a standout performance by Roberta Colindrez (The Deuce, I Love Dick) as the sharp-tongued, misanthropic Lex, Ms. White Light strikes a nuanced balance between quirky and heartfelt, examining what it really means to be alive.
