Florida Premiere
This special screening will include a live in-person Q&A with director Alexandria Bombach and the Indigo Girls.
Amy Ray and Emily Saliers met in elementary school outside of Decatur, Georgia. They began performing together in high school and started calling themselves Indigo Girls after reuniting in college. From inauspicious beginnings was born a fiercely independent passion project that has lasted for almost 35 years, earning Grammy awards and nominations, platinum albums and most recently induction into the Women Songwriters Hall of Fame. In addition to touring, they have continually spoken out, supporting many causes including the plight of Native Americans as well as women’s and LGBTQ rights. Alexandria Bombach’s incredible and heartfelt film blends 40 years of home movies, raw film archive, and an intimate present-day reflection from the iconic folk rock duo. A timely look into the obstacles, activism, and life lessons of two queer friends who never expected to make it big, but truly have learned how to multiply life by the power of two.
