Eleven women from the Arab and Western worlds, with no prior adventure experience, accept an invitation to join together to ski to the North Pole. The Euro-Arabian North Pole Expedition is led by explorer Felicity Aston, who recruited the women on Facebook by announcing, “No experience necessary, but passion, enthusiasm, and willingness to work hard are essential.” Filmmaker Holly Morris (The Babushkas of Chernobyl, FFF 2016 Audience Award winner) and her all-women crew document this daring and unprecedented group over three years. As the women embark on their journey, they navigate everything from frostbite and polar bear threats to sexism and self-doubt. The film’s breathtaking cinematography captures an exciting yet intimate story of resilience, survival, and global citizenry. With the climate crisis and political conflicts becoming more dangerous, the women may be on the last ever over-ice expedition to the North Pole.
Dorothy Oliver is a determined woman on a mission to keep residents in her rural African-American town in Alabama safe from COVID-19, in this new film from the co-director of For Ahkeem (FFF 2017).
