After So Many Days
Directed by: Jim Hanft and Samantha Yonack
USA, 2019, 87m
Just four months after getting married, singer-songwriters Jim Hanft and Samantha Yonack set off on the Anywhere Everywhere Tour—playing 365 shows in 365 days—and they record all the highs and lows that come along the way. With the intention to play a show every day, but only having “proper” gigs about half the time, Jim and Sam sometimes find themselves playing in small Los Angeleno bodegas for an audience of three, or serenading the girls working the take out window at a Starbucks in Wyoming, and other times playing to packed 3,000-seat music halls. Their mesmerizing music, performed against the beautiful landscapes of 14 countries, provides the perfect backdrop for an inspirational story about the value of connecting with one another. Whatever your preconceived notions of musicians’ life on the road, After So Many Days is sure to redefine them.
A visually innovative take on how music education in Philadelphia was saved from a funding crisis by creating an orchestra of musicians playing broken instruments.
