Brownie is having the worst week possible. Unemployed, she wakes up with nosebleeds; her pet rabbit, Megan, dies; her veterinarian mistakenly swaps out the remains with another deceased animal’s; and she finds comfort in the arms of the other traumatized victim of misplaced pet ashes. After all that, Mother Nature unexpectedly sends Brownie into the hospital. And to top things off, her boyfriend Lewis—a pompous assistant to a local university dean—sucks. When asked to pursue a special assignment as an academic sex-spy, Lewis gets so wrapped up in the case that he starts to build a crush on a co-worker Frenchie, and then his week becomes just as bad as Brownie’s. Chicago director Jerzy Rose spoofs stiff-necked academia with deadpan glee in this outrageous comedy that is weird, funny, and refreshingly original. CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY is an absurd romp and modern screwball comedy of surreal dimensions.
