Lovers and students of Southern food and culture should not miss this delightful montage of the characters that populate the land below the Mason-Dixon Line. Joe York (Cud, Smokes & Ears, FFF 2010) returns to the Florida Film Festival with a tender and intimate portrait of the people and places from the South. With Southern food and drink as his lens, PRIDE & JOY explores the incredible Southern spirit, the rich history of the South, and the wonderful diversity contained within it. You will meet a peach farmer/novelist, barbecue pitmasters, a caviar fisherman, an oyster tonger, a bourbon distiller, a civil rights activist/soul food cook, and many more fascinating folk filled with passion, humor, and spirit. Will Harris, a wonderful Georgia rancher/philosopher featured in this playful and mouthwatering documentary, will be present to answer questions after the film.
