Jane Adams (Happiness, HBO’s Hung) stars as Marie, an aging, well-known independent film actress living in a beach house, who gets by as she fulfills her daily routine of paddle boarding in the ocean with her neighbor/friend Rusty (Larry Fesseden). Consistently losing bigger roles to upcoming and younger actresses, Marie finds herself taking on acting roles for free. When her niece Faye (Sophia Takal), an aspiring actress as well, pays her a visit, Marie makes the acquaintance of an older friend Dan (Kent Osborne). Marie’s comfort zone opens a little bit more and her sullen disposition is swept under the rug. Known as one of the Godfathers of Mumblecore and DIY micro-budget filmmaking since his 2005 debut, Kissing on the Mouth, director/writer Joe Swanberg (Uncle Kent, Hannah Takes the Stairs) seamlessly captures the essence of truth in his actors, settings, and camera work. ALL THE LIGHT IN THE SKY reveals a quasi-autobiographical take on Adams that also reflects on aging in Hollywood, relationships with men, and—just for good measure—the future of the planet.
