I THINK WE’RE ALONE NOW
USA, 2007, 70 MIN
DIRECTED BY SEAN DONNELLY
East Coast Premiere
You have heard countless stories about celebrity stalkers, but perhaps none has ever been this odd, tragic, and downright fascinating. The film follows two people who have been in love with '80s pop sensation Tiffany since she first hit it big. Jeff Turner, now in his 50s, has attended Tiffany concerts and appearances for two decades. He claims they're the best of friends and love each other deeply, even though he was once arrested for trying to give her a samurai sword after one of her shows. The other subject, Kelly McCormick, is a lonesome 38 year'old hermaphrodite who wants friendship above all else. The media finds it easy to label them "stalkers"--as do other Tiffany fans--but is it really that simple? Or are these two suffering from some deep mental deficiency? I Think We’re Alone Now shines a very particular and disturbing spotlight on the nature of obsession, fanaticism, and unrequited love.
