Eye of the Hurricane

DIRECTED BY JESSE WOLFE
USA, 2011, 105 MIN
EAST COAST PREMIERE

Set in the majestic but dangerous Florida Everglades, EYE OF THE HURRICANE is told through the perspectives of a determined child, a troubled adolescent, a wounded parent, and a loyal friend, all struggling to put their lives back together after a devastating hurricane. In this compelling family drama, Amelia (Melanie Lynskey, Up In the Air) waits at an Air Force base for word of her husband whose plane disappeared, while her teenage daughter deals with her crush on a FEMA worker. Nine-year-old Homer scours the ‘Glades for the eye he lost in the storm, while local fisherman, Bill (Campbell Scott, Big Night) deals with the tremendous damage left behind. Co-starring Brian Doyle-Murray (Groundhog Day), EYE OF THE HURRICANE is the feature debut of Orlando filmmaker Jesse Wolfe, who earned his BA from Rollins College and his Masters from AFI’s Center for Advanced Film & Television Studies. Currently a professor of film at the University of Central Florida, Wolfe skillfully reveals the terrifying yet enlightening effects of a natural disaster as only a Florida filmmaker can.
