WORLD PREMIERE
Typically, pop idols rise and fall, usually lost to the changeable tide of taste or the destructive by-products of their meteoric fame. However one idol has never slowed down—Rick Springfield. AN AFFAIR OF THE HEART explores the fuel that powers his enduring popularity and inspires the most loyal and persistent fan base since the Deadheads. Traveling in his wake, Springfield’s devotees identify their obsession as a lifestyle rather than a pastime, and his relationships with members of his fan base are remarkably intimate and sincere for a guy who “wished that [he] had Jessie’s girl.” (We dare you to stop singing it now.) Local filmmakers Sylvia Caminer and Melanie Lentz-Janney paint a touching portrait of hard-working Springfield but truly pull in the focus to study his devoted fans—a tribe of diverse creatures whose connection to one another is almost as strong as their love for Rick.
Rick Springfield will be present for a Q&A ONLY for the screening Thursday, April 19th at 9:30PM at Enzian. This screening is currently on standby. Guests who wish to try to get in on standby may begin lining up at 10AM at Enzian on Thursday, April 19th. Please call the Film Festival Ticketing Line at (407) 629-1088 ext. 257 with questions or visit the Film Festival Ticketing Box Office at Enzian 7 days a week between NOON and 8PM.
