SOUTHEAST PREMIERE
Remember not exactly fitting in? With his third feature film, director Azazel Jacobs (Momma’s Man) has created a sublime and wholly original take on the high school coming-of-age film that’s both comically quirky and painfully realistic. Terri (terrific newcomer Jacob Wysocki) is a lonely, overweight teenage orphan who dislikes going to school because he’s hounded and humiliated there. He lives in a small town with his mentally debilitated Uncle James (Creed Bratton) and spends his days in pajamas since those are the only clothes that feel comfortable to him. Alienated and alone, his behavior soon catches the attention of Assistant Principal Mr. Fitzgerald (John C. Reilly), a vulnerable yet hilarious authority figure who tries to be Terri’s friend and help him cope with life’s challenges. Filled with awkward, honest, and genuinely uncomfortable moments, TERRI is one of those rare dramatic comedies with heart that perfectly captures the confusion of adolescence and what it means to be an outcast.
