THE WIND JOURNEYS is an adventure steeped in the music, mythology, and magic of the Caribbean culture of Northern Colombia. After the death of his wife, a folk musician named Ignacio Carillo decides to make one final journey, thus returning him to the traveling nomadic lifestyle that he once left behind. He carries with him a legendary accordion that is said to have once belonged to the devil, and must now be returned to its rightful place—back into the hands of Ignacio’s mentor. Along the way he meets the irrepressible Fermin, a teenager who dreams of becoming a traveling musician like Ignacio. Ignacio, tired from the loneliness and isolation of his journey, decides to allow the boy to accompany him. Aware of the solitude and sadness of a being a music man on the move, he decides he will try to lead Fermin on a different path—but destiny has its own plans. An award-winner at the Cannes Film Festival and Colombia’s official submission for this year’s Best Foreign Language Film Oscar, THE WIND JOURNEYS is a fantastic excursion into the ages-old culture of Northern Colombia.
