Moderator Barry Sandler (screenwriter Making Love and Crimes of Passion, Associate Professor, UCF Film Program) leads us through a discussion on the art and business of screenwriting. How do words on a page become a film? We’ll explore the triumphs and tragedies of screenwriting with industry heavy hitters Don Mancini, best known for creating the phenomenally successful character of Chucky, and writing all of the films in the Child's Play series; actress, writer, and director Guinevere Turner who partnered with Mary Harron to pen the screenplays for The Notorious Bettie Page and American Psycho, as well as her own masterful Go Fish; and Bob DeRosa, a former Orlando resident and writer of the recently completed The Air I Breathe starring Forrest Whitaker and Sarah Michelle Gellar.

DreamWorks animator Kyle Jefferson shares insights into the world of film animation and the process of making his animation directing debut, our Opening Night Short First Flight.  A native of Toronto and graduate of Sheridan College in Ontario, he began his professional career at DreamWorks on the epic The Prince of Egypt and went on to contribute to The Road to El Dorado, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, Shrek, Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas, and Shark Tale. Kyle also worked with director Michael Bay building action scene pre-visualizations for Pearl Harbor.  Introduction by Charley Walters, a senior marketing manager for Dreamworks SKG.
