The comical, touching story of a man looking back at his childhood in 1970s HOUSE OF D represents the feature film writing and directing debut of David Duchovny (The X Files). Duchovny costars as Tom Warshaw, an American artist living in bohemian Paris, who finally reveals his turbulent coming of age to his French wife. Vaulting back to 1973, the bulk of the film follows 13-year-old Tommy (Anton Yelchin) as he navigates the difficult transition into adulthood. While his mother (Tea Leoni) continues to mourn the death of his father, Tommy causes trouble at school and makes deliveries with his friend Pappass (Robin Williams), a mentally challenged janitor. Following romantic advice offered by Lady (Erykah Badu), an unlikely mentor from the Women’s House of Detention, Tommy also experiences his first taste of love. But when an unexpected tragedy radically alters his world, he must make a life-defining choice that will continue to echo in him. Vividly capturing the spirit, humor, joy, and heartbreak of youth, this hopeful story is sensitively directed by Duchovny and bolstered by a talented cast.
