Frankie dances topless. Her boyfriend Terry sells used books. But when Frankie passes out at work, she awakens transformed, unsure of who she is. She may have switched consciousness with a male customer who fainted at the same moment. She just isn’t sure. As she tries to find and identify her new self, Frankie discovers the pleasurable potentials of her body and its power over Terry. Taking control of the life that he once dominated, Frankie—or whoever she is—pushes Terry into slavery and pulls us into in a story that feels as dangerous as it is bizarre. In exploring the limits of gender, sexuality, power, and manipulation, director Vladimir Vitkin transforms Michael Blumlein’s cult novel into a psychosexual journey of exquisite darkness. Not for the prudish or faint of heart.
