MURDER PARTY
USA, 2007, 80 MIN
DIRECTED BY JEREMY SAULNIER
East Coast Premiere
Have you ever decided to show up to a party you weren't specifically invited to or weren't even sure you would know anyone there? For Christopher, a lonesome and unremarkable meter maid, the decision to take such a risk on Halloween was relatively thoughtless when an invitation mysteriously falls into his hands. But unbeknownst to this poor chap, he is to become the centerpiece of the party, as the group sponsoring it made that invitation for a reason--to kill the person who shows up! Bloody horror fuses with absurd humor as drugs and alcohol distract the pretentious artists collective from its goal, ultimately giving their "victim" a chance to escape. As the body count begins to rise, it's easy to see that maybe this Murder Party is a lot more fun than the title suggests. Jeremy Saulnier, whose "Crabwalk" rocked the FFF in 2004, won the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature at the 2007 Slamdance Film Festival for this hilarious gorefest. Consider yourself invited!
