FIDO
CANADA, 2006, 91 MIN
DIRECTED BY ANDREW CURRIE

Fido is one of those films that have a perfect grasp on how to mix social satire with good horror. Many years ago, planet Earth was subjected to a large cloud of cosmic dust, which caused the dead to rise from their graves. These zombies overwhelmed the living with their feasting carnage until the birth of a new corporation, ZomCon. They invented a collar for these walking corpses which suppresses their hunger for flesh and turns them into upstanding public servants. When Helen Robinson (Carrie-Anne Moss) purchases a zombie to help with traditional chores around the house, her son Timmy (K'Sun Ray) forms an unlikely friendship with their new acquisition (Billy Connolly). Timmy names the creature "Fido," and everything goes well...until the neighbors start losing both their limbs and their lives. Could something in Fido's collar be going awry? Tim Blake Nelson, Dylan Baker and Henry Czerny co-star in this darkly funny undead comedy in the spirit of both Shaun of the Dead and Pleasantville.
