James Van Der Bexton (Hugh O'Conor, The Young Poisoner's Handbook) tries to rid himself of relationship woes with hours of therapy sessions. Tired of that, the heartbroken heir decides to give "speed dating" a try in his search for love and meaning. Things aren't going so well when he turns his attention to a mysterious woman at the local pub, ultimately leading to a string of disastrous mishaps. Suffering amnesia as the result of a hit-and-run accident, James is unknowingly thrust into a deadly (and comedic) game involving drug smugglers and hit-men. But how can a man clear his name if he can't even remember it? Aided by a friendly nurse and his unconventional family, he embarks on a quest to figure out who James Van Der Bexton really is. Speed Dating is a delightful and charming romantic comedy boasting a disarmingly winning performance by O'Conor and a terrific musical score including The Starlight Mints and Sufjan Stevens. Writer/director Tony Herbert has crafted together a witty, thoroughly entertaining cocktail of matchmaking, mystery, and murder.
