What exactly is it that God provides in the aftermath of Katrina? This film considers a surprising number of responses to this provocative and not quite hypothetical question.

OPERATION HOMECOMING
USA, 2006, 81 MIN
DIRECTED BY RICHARD E. ROBBINS
Southeast Premiere

War is personal. Very personal. With electrifying clarity, warriors--past and present, living and dead--reflect, commiserate, chronicle, and personalize their war experiences. "I may not be a very good solider, but I may be a very good witness." And indeed they are. At the hub of this film is the remarkable initiative of The National Endowment for the Arts: Operation Homecoming. This years long effort to collect the poetry and creative non-fictional accounts of the men and women serving in Afghanistan and Iraq is interwoven with the words of soldiers and sailors from other wars and other times. Here we see and feel Iraq, Viet Nam, and WWII far differently than the statistics and impressions we gather from television and textbooks. By expressing themselves creatively, these willing and reluctant defenders of our country bring the war home--to our hearts. "Did I do what was right or did I do what was wrong? The problem is you just don’t know."
