SOUTHEAST PREMIERE
Gritty and uncompromising, Zak Tucker’s POSTER BOY probes the internal conflicts of Henry Kray (Matt Newton), the sexually active but closeted gay son of a rabidly homophobic, right-wing senator (Michael Lerner) and his jaded wife (Karen Allen). The Senator, unaware of his son’s sexuality, asks Henry to curry the youth vote. Henry must either face the specter of exploitation and ideological prostitution for the father he loves but whose values he abhors, or assert his conscience and identity and thereby risk destroying not only his dad’s political career but also his ties to his family. Against a riveting backdrop of political corruption, family conflict, and sexual warfare, Tucker and screenwriters Ryan Shiraki and Lecia Rosenthal examine the complexities of Henry’s struggle, creating a gripping, provocative, profoundly relevant portrait of a troubled young man surrounded by deception and betrayal.
