Neil Perota is obsessed with food. At 27, he weighs 315 pounds and shows no signs of changing—heck, he still lives with his parents in Brooklyn. Two days before his sister’s wedding, his body rebels with a heart attack. Even as he starts to recover, he can’t stop eating and spends his time finding ways to cheat on his diet. Neil tries to get help from his high school buddy Sacco, but how helpful can a drug addict really be? Humiliated by his own weakness, Neil develops a diet plan and moves out of the city to a dilapidated trailer deep in the woods, where he begins the long battle to shed his emotional and physical weight and regain his life. Funny and inspirational, this insightful look at another kind of addiction stems from the real-life story of writer/actor Carmine Famiglietti, who plays Neil, directed by his longtime friend Matthew Bonifacio.
