FILM CRITICS FORUM
Saturday, March 6, 10:30 AM

How do Florida’s most-read critics decide if a film rates a thumbs up or a thumbs down? How do critics affect the film industry? What do film critics watch on their day off? For answers to these and other questions, join the Florida Film Critics Circle for a fascinating discussion on journalism and film. This forum features FFCA chair Jay Boyar (Orlando Sentinel) and features Jeff Farance (The News-Journal of Daytona), Christopher Lloyd (Ocala Star-Banner), and Steve Schneider (The Orlando Weekly).

Tuesay, March 9, 1:30 PM

Join Kodak for an informal discussion with Florida filmmakers who have worked in the sometimes-overlooked 16mm/S16mm format. The first half of the program focuses on the steps involved in getting the film made, from pre-production through actual shooting. Then the panel examines the hands-on potential of the S16mm camera and techniques to maximize it effectiveness.

Heading boldly into its second edition, NextArt celebrates the cutting edge of creativity developed by current visionaries—with special emphasis on work that blends media into new forms. What does tomorrow hold for those visionaries and for their audiences? How do new technologies figure into art? Join writer Lisa Delgado; Paul Marino and Frank Dellario of the ILL Clan; and Tod Machover and Mary Farbood from the MIT Media Lab in a rousing discussion of the future of art and entertainment.
