The 12th edition of the Florida Film Festival took place March 7-16, 2003 when more than 100 filmmakers and special guests and 21,000 film lovers enjoyed all the best that Florida has to offer...right after Sundance and leading into the Cannes. Welcome to the glory of spring - Florida style!

The Florida Film Festival showcases the best American Independent and Foreign Films. As the Orlando filmmaking community has grown, so has the Festival, becoming one of the most respected regional film events in the country. In fact, in 2001 the Florida Film Festival was named one of the top 10 festivals in the world by festival guru Chris Gore in The Ultimate Film Festival Survival Guide, 2nd Edition.

Focus on Filmmakers

The Festival will include narrative and documentary features and shorts, animation, as well as a full array of forums, parties, and other special events. The Florida Film Festival not only prides itself in delivering the finest in independent film, but also the filmmakers who make it all possible. Our way of demonstrating the Festival's renowned Southern hospitality and saying "Thanks" for all you do... in person!

Past years' guests include Oliver Stone, Gabriel Byrne, Jason Lee, Christopher Walken, Dennis Hopper, Leelee Sobieski, Steve Buscemi, and William H. Macy. Festival seminars have included such film industry notables as Mike Medavoy, Bingham Ray, Allison Anders, Victor Nunez and Blair Witch creators Dan Myrick and Ed Sanchez; cinematographers Haskell Wexler and Bill Butler; animators Bill Plympton and Corky Quakenbush; screenwriters Shane Black and Ed Neumeier; and producers Gale Anne Hurd and Roger Corman.

"Universal Orlando has been a sponsor of the Florida Film Festival since its inception twelve years ago. Their love and passion for the independent filmmaker and the art of moviemaking is evident in everything they do. This 10-day festival captures the special spirit of support that the Florida production community has for the independent filmmaker."
