The music of Bright Eyes, Matt Costa, and Bon Iver complements this engaging coming-of-age standout that won the Audience Award for Best Feature at Newport Beach and a Grand Prize for Best Actor at Rhode Island International. Bright high school senior Andrew lacks direction. Growing up in Barstow, California, Andrew develops a powerful devotion to Sandra, his mother who is also his best friend. But at some point their roles reverse and Andrew has to become the responsible one, protecting Sandra from the harsh realities of life, including heartbreaking younger men. Because he can't rely on Sandra, Andrew turns elsewhere to find direction--his friend from school, a cynical teacher, a pretty waitress, and even a radio call-in host. However, they're all just as trapped as he is. And is it really devotion to his mother that's holding Andrew back anyway? Or is it his own fear? In this beautifully shot and sensitively acted drama, Andrew has to make a choice between the life he has been living and the life he was meant to live.
